So Sandfall Interactive just shadow-dropped a massive free update. Patch 1.5.0 for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 brings tons of new content. You can explore brand-new areas, fight fresh bosses, and enjoy tons of quality-of-life upgrades. Let’s break down everything included.

Verso’s Drafts: The Biggest New Area
The main attraction here is Verso’s Drafts, a completely explorable region. You need Act 3 access and Esquie’s underwater diving ability to enter. You can find the entrance just east of Lumiere on the water’s surface.
This area has a whimsical, childlike aesthetic inspired by young Verso. You can spot candy-themed environments and toy decorations throughout. The level design reflects Verso’s innocent childhood memories. You’ll discover new enemies, gestals to interact with, and hidden surprises everywhere.

The composer Lorien Testard created beautiful new music tracks specifically for this area. He mentioned writing farewell pieces to the adventure after five years with the characters. The soundtrack perfectly matches the playful yet meaningful tone.
13 New Weapons and 16 Additional Luminas
You can unlock a total of 13 brand-new weapons scattered across Verso’s Drafts. Each weapon fits the candy-themed environment beautifully. You’ll find items like a candy scythe and other whimsical designs.
Beyond weapons, you get 16 additional Luminas for deeper combat customization. That’s a substantial boost to build variety and experimentation. Combined with the new loadout feature, you can craft wildly different strategies.

New Costumes and Hairstyles for Every Character
Every party member received new costumes and hairstyles available in Verso’s Drafts. Some look genuinely stylish and refined. Others are intentionally goofy for pure fun.
You can also unlock special Esquie outfits designed specifically for riding Verso. These cosmetic additions let you personalize your team exactly how you want.

Photo Mode – A Highly-Requested Feature
After many community requests, Sandfall finally added a comprehensive photo mode. This isn’t a basic camera tool—it’s incredibly in-depth with professional features.
You get 33 filters to apply instantly to your photos. You can adjust the field of view, angles, color grading, and depth of field settings. The lighting system includes 10 fully customizable lights for creative control.

Here’s the coolest part—you can use photo mode during cinematics and cutscenes. The camera travels infinitely without collision, so you can even go below the map. You can access hidden areas and “backstage” locations normally restricted. This encourages creative experimentation.
Lumina Loadout Sets – Instant Build Swapping
One of the biggest quality-of-life features is Lumina Sets. You can now save up to 50 different Lumina configurations. Previously, you had to manually swap pieces individually.
This change is huge because your Lumina list can become massive with all the options. Now you can save preset builds for different combat scenarios. You can switch between them instantly without tedious menu navigation.

New Boss Battles in Endless Tower
The Endless Tower received four additional boss fights featuring new original bosses. Late-game players get fresh challenges and new rewards, including Pictos, costumes, and gear.
These encounters are balanced for optimized late-game setups. Players can experience meaningful difficulty even with powerful equipment. Completing these fights unlocks exclusive items unavailable elsewhere.

Additional Quality-of-Life Improvements
You can now abandon battles directly from the pause menu. That option removes the frustration of being locked into failed runs. The pause menu itself can now open during combat for quick access.
Lumina filtering is now available during searches. You can sort and find specific Luminas much faster. New HUD scaling lets you adjust on-screen elements from 80% to 120%. That helps readability on different screen sizes.
New input remapping for controllers is available on all platforms, including console versions. You can customize button layouts exactly how you prefer.

Handheld PC and Steam Deck Optimization
Sandfall made extensive improvements specifically for handheld gaming. The game is now Steam Deck-certified and ROG Ally-certified. Text legibility improved globally across all menus.
Frame rate uncapping addresses the previous 30 FPS cap on Steam Deck. VSync can now be disabled in settings for better performance. Graphic settings automatically adjust for handheld devices.

Controller support improved significantly during setup. Installation wizards now accept controller input instead of requiring touchscreen-only navigation.
Multiple fog and lighting fixes resolved graphical issues. Overly intense effects during the Flying Manor boss fight got toned down. Overly dark areas in Endless Tower received brightening adjustments.
New Language Support Brings Total to 19
The update added seven new languages for accessibility. New supported languages include Czech, Ukrainian, Mexican Spanish, Turkish, Vietnamese, Thai, and Indonesian. That brings the total to 19 languages supported, with more planned.
Important Bug Fixes Affecting Gameplay
Several balance fixes changed how certain mechanics work. Breaking Death was breaking all enemies when a character died. Now it only breaks the enemy that killed that character. That fixes a farming exploit completely.
First Strike, triggered by attacking enemies on the map, now respects character speed correctly. Previously, turn order didn’t account for speed stats properly during first strike encounters.

Boucharo weapon was incorrectly giving +150% critical chance instead of +50%. That’s now fixed for proper weapon balance.
Several Luminas had hidden +10% damage multipliers that shouldn’t exist. Fixed Luminas include Sweet Kill, Teamwork, Dead Energy II, and First Strike. These unintended buffs affected farming efficiency significantly.
Journal Collection Fix
Previously, you could get locked out of collecting all journals in a single playthrough. The Old Key item was only available during the prologue. Now it’s been added back to the final area.
To find it, head up the first staircase from the docks. Turn immediately left. You’ll see wooden boxes clustered together. A collectible pickup sits right there. Backtrack with the Old Key to Old Lumiere to retrieve the missing journal.

Additional Performance and Compatibility Updates
FSR 4 support got added for improved graphics processing. New Pictos and Luminas filters let you organize your collection better. Multiple UI tweaks streamline navigation throughout.
Graphics settings adjusted specifically for Steam Deck users. Controller support expanded across all installation and setup menus. The experience feels significantly smoother overall.
