Stellar Blade quickly became one of the biggest surprise hits in recent years, especially after its massively successful PC launch. Now, new updates from developer Shift Up suggest the sequel is already progressing smoothly. And one major decision could completely change the future of the franchise.

That decision is self-publishing.

And honestly, it may end up being one of the most important reasons Stellar Blade 2 becomes significantly bigger than the original game.

Stellar Blade Is No Longer Just a One-Time Success

According to Shift Up’s latest earnings report, the company now views Stellar Blade as a long-term franchise rather than a standalone hit. The report describes the game as an “evergreen” IP and confirms that the sequel’s development is progressing smoothly while meeting internal quality expectations.

That’s a pretty major statement considering how competitive the modern AAA gaming space has become.

The original game already performed well on PlayStation, but the PC release appears to have pushed the franchise into a completely different category.
