Decathlon’s latest Riverside 520 E is Perfect For City Travels

Decathlon, the renowned French sports retailer, has unveiled an updated Riverside 520 E e-bike. This new e-bike features a step-through model which enhances accessibility and user-friendliness. The step-through design is ideal for short riders and makes it easier to mount and dismount the bike. Moreover, this design is also great for multiple starts and stops while commuting.

Riverside 520 E is Powered by a 250W Hub Motor

In terms of performance, the Riverside 520 E is powered by a rear hub motor with a 250-watt nominal power output. Which is according to the European e-bike regulations. Additionally, With a torque rating of 42 Newton meters, it provides ample power for handling moderate to steep inclines in the city. The bike has a short-travel front suspension fork to smooth out uneven and bumps on the roads. However, its small CST gravel tires indicate it’s more suited for city commuting than trail adventures.

Riverside 520 E Promises a Range of 100 KM

A 500-watt-hour battery pack powers the bike and on a single charge, it promises a maximum range of approx. 100 KM. However, this range quickly drops to about 56 KM on the highest assist level. Additionally, the Riverside 520 E has a torque sensor, which guarantees a smoother ride.

Brakes, Gears and Other Features

Moreover, for the gear and braking system, the Riverside 520 E boasts a Microshift H081 drivetrain and Tektro hydraulic disc brakes. Now for other bike functions, we have a multi-function button on the display which lets us control assist settings. While the display provides information on speed, distance, and remaining range. Also, It features a USB port for on-the-go device charging. Riverside 520 E features a B-Twin Ergofit Trekking 500 saddle for seating comfort and ergonomic grips with palm support. Additionally, we get the basic lighting system and a rear stand. Sadly, there’s no included mudguards or a luggage rack.

Riverside 520 E Price and Colors

Coming to price it costs approx €1,399 ($1,510 approx.). This pricing puts it competitive against others in the e-bike market. The bike is available only in green colour options and sizes of S, M, and L. Decathlon’s Riverside 520 E seems to be a great companion for urban riders. The design, power, range and functions provide an ideal experience for City travel.
