Okay so recently here has been a lot of leaks and rumours about the Nintendo Switch 2. Even dbrand has teaser their skins and cases for the upcoming device. However, we haven’t had a lot of information about its specifications. Other than maybe an 8 inch OLED or LCD display or newer button short cuts.
A lot of the players must be wondering that since the highly anticipated Rockstar Game GTA 6 is releasing next year. Can you play the game on the latest Nintendo Switch 2. Well frankly the chances are zero to none. We do have the original GTA trilogy available on the Nintendo platform.
However the more recent flagship games like the GTA 4 and 5 are not available yet. And you know that GTA 4 released back in 2008 and GTA 5 in 2015. So imagine the years passed and we still don’t have an official port of the game. This could be cause of the game’s nature or ratings, maybe something else.
Game Title | Release Date | Nintendo Console | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Grand Theft Auto Advance | October 26, 2004 | Game Boy Advance | Top-down 2D GTA game developed for GBA. |
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars | March 17, 2009 | Nintendo DS | Action-adventure game with touch-screen controls. |
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition | November 11, 2021 | Nintendo Switch | Includes remastered versions of GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas. |
Hardware wise Nintendo Switch is quite capable as it runs a custom Nvidia Tegra GPU. We can play the Hogwarts Legacy at 30 FPS which is quite something for a handheld device. So there’s no question it can run the GTA 4 and 5 games. However GTA 6 is just on another level and can definitely put a strain on the modern PCs. So until Nintendo Switch 2 has a massive GPU upgrade it is highly unlikely that it can run the game even at 30 FPS.
