Poco has launched it’s popular budget smartphone in M series, the Poco M7 Pro. The phone while bringing some wow elements to the table, fails to deliver on some key expectations.

Firstly, the new Poco M7 Pro is exactly the same Redmi Note 14 minus the Ultra wide camera. We get the same display, processor, battery, selfie camera, etc. However the Redmi Note 14 was launched at under ₹20,000 range. So Poco is trying to attract the under ₹15k range buyers here.

Some Good Offerings

We get some unique offerings like a bezel less 120hz Amoled display with under display fingerprint sensor. For charging we get the 45W charger in the box only which is highly appreciated. The cameras are quite advertised as well, it has a 50MP Sony LYT 600 OIS camera. Which sounds impressive and performs well for daytime pictures. But reviews shows the sensor isn’t great for low light pictures maybe due to the processor limitations.

Major Drawback

As the video takes a major hit with the Dimensity 7025 Ultra Processor isn’t capable to handle 4K videos. And not just 4K, it can’t even handle recording 1080 60 FPS videos. Which is quite disappointing. However, the stereo speakers, IR blaster are good additions.

We recently saw the release of Motorola G35 which does offer 4K recordings with its Unisoc T760 chipset. It’s one of the direct competitors of Poco M7 Pro and Redmi Note 14 as well. The display is definitely a lot superior here with Dolby Vision and HDR support. But if a powerful processor and gaming is your need then you may need to consider the Dimensity 7300 phones which are available under 20K as well.
