During this time, players and enemies will be affected by a special status effect called Lunacy, which activates during the Blood Moon between 9:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. in-game time (about 15 minutes in real life).
When Lunacy is active, you’ll steadily lose sanity when outside your territory, and your sanity recovery rate will be significantly reduced. But here’s the twist: the lower your health, the stronger your resource collection buff becomes. This means you’ll gather more resources from mining, harvesting, and defeating deviants when you’re on the brink of survival. It’s a high-risk, high-reward mechanic that adds a thrilling layer to gameplay.
How Does Lunacy Work?
During the Once Human Lunar Oracle, Lunacy isn’t just a challenge—it’s also an opportunity. Defeating enemies and participating in game modes will earn you Lunar Whispers, a time-limited currency that can be used to open Oracle Crates. These crates come in different grades, each requiring a specific amount of Lunar Whispers to unlock. Inside, you’ll find exclusive formulas, mods with the Lunar suffix, unique animal skins, and even Lunar Oracle morph deviations.

But be careful! If you die during a Lunar Oracle, you’ll lose a portion of your Lunar Whispers based on your sanity level at the time of death. The lower your sanity, the more you’ll lose. On the bright side, the Blood Moon will grant you a blessing that protects you from Lunacy for the rest of the current cycle, giving you a chance to regroup.
Hidden Discoveries and Challenges
One of the most exciting aspects of the Once Human Lunar Oracle is the ability to see hidden objects while under the Lunacy effect. You’ll be able to spot hidden Oracle crates, settlements, and deviated plants in the wilderness. However, gathering these resources comes with its risks. Deviants are more aggressive and stronger during the Lunar Oracle, and unique elite enemies will target you while exploring settlements.
Additionally, if a Prime War or Stronghold Conquest is initiated during the Lunar Oracle, the game mode will be affected by environmental changes and Lunacy. Even the Chaos Weaver’s arrival during a Lunar Oracle can create a double challenge, combining the effects of the Blood Moon with blizzards or volcanic storms.
Once Human Lunar Oracle Rewards and Events
Starting on February 13th, Phase Two of the Visional Wheel cycle will introduce the Crimson Moon Challenge Event. During this event, players can earn Rubies by completing challenges and performing various actions in the scenario. These Rubies can be used to upgrade your event level and unlock rewards like unique paint materials, limited cosmetics, and more.
With the Once Human Lunar Oracle update, you’ll also have the chance to claim up to 27 free rewards, including cosmetics, Spring Festival deviations, stickers, exclusive recipes, Mitsuko Marks, and over 10,000 Starcom.
(UPDATE) Phase 3 of the Lunar Oracle: Meet the Lunarspawns
Phase 3 for the Lunar Oracle brings a new type of deviant called Lunar Spawns, and they’re not your average enemies. These deviants will appear in settlements throughout the Wilderness, and they have a unique ability that makes them particularly challenging.
When a Lunar Spawn kills a player, it assumes that player’s appearance and abilities. The more players it defeats, the stronger it becomes, and the better the rewards when you finally take it down. Unlike other deviants, Lunar Spawns can also use items and deviations in combat, making them a formidable opponent. It’s like a PVE encounter with a PVP twist, and it’s sure to keep players on their toes.
A new event called the Spectral Hunt will commence from March 8 to May 8. To progress in the event, players will need to defeat these Lunar Spawns to fill a progress bar and unlock rewards. The final rewards include Lunar Spawn-themed cosmetics, such as exclusive eyewear, a name card, and an avatar. It’s a great incentive to tackle these challenging enemies and add some unique items to your collection.
