The Grand Theft Auto VI community has seen plenty of fake countdowns, questionable leaks, and overhyped theories over the past year.
But this latest situation feels very different.
A new email reportedly sent through Best Buy’s affiliate marketing system may have accidentally revealed upcoming GTA 6 pre-order timing – and unlike many recent rumors, this one appears to come from a legitimate source.
Naturally, fans are now wondering if Rockstar is finally preparing to open pre-orders very soon.
The Leak Started With a Best Buy Affiliate Email
The situation began after YouTuber “FrogBoyX1Gaming” reportedly received an affiliate email connected to Best Buy’s creator program.
The message allegedly offered creators a 5% affiliate commission for GTA 6 physical game pre-orders placed between:
- May 18
- and May 21
According to the report, the email came directly from app.impact.com, the affiliate marketing platform used by Best Buy. That detail is important because the platform itself is very real and widely used for official affiliate campaigns.

The creator behind the leak also shared screenshots and claimed the email appeared fully legitimate.
And honestly, that’s why the situation has suddenly gained so much attention online.
Why This Leak Feels Different
Most GTA 6 rumors usually fall apart pretty quickly.
Either:
- The source is anonymous
- Screenshots look fake
- The details sound unrealistic
- Or there’s no verifiable connection to anything official
This situation is different because the email reportedly comes from an actual affiliate infrastructure already used by major companies and creators.
The person discussing the leak also claimed they had personally worked with the same affiliate platform before, making it easier to verify whether the email formatting and source looked authentic.
That does not automatically confirm the dates are correct. But it makes the situation much harder to dismiss completely.
Could Rockstar Actually Open Pre-Orders Soon?
That’s the big question right now.
If the dates mentioned in the email are accurate, then Rockstar could potentially announce pre-orders:
- before May 18
- on May 18
- or shortly afterward
And naturally, that immediately sparked speculation about:
- Trailer 3
- New screenshots
- Collector’s editions
- Marketing campaigns
- Retail rollout plans
The timing also lines up with growing expectations that Rockstar may finally begin its next major GTA 6 marketing phase soon.

There’s Still a Chance This Was a Mistake
At the same time, people are trying to stay cautious. Even if the email itself is real, there’s always the possibility that:
- placeholder dates were used
- Information was uploaded early
- Internal scheduling changed
- Or the affiliate campaign was prepared in advance
That uncertainty is why many fans still are not fully convinced yet. The GTA community has been burned by fake hype too many times already.
Rockstar’s Silence Is Making Everything More Intense
One reason this leak exploded so quickly is that Rockstar has remained unusually quiet for a long time now.
Fans have spent months waiting for:
- new gameplay footage
- release updates
- pre-order information
- another trailer
So when something that appears genuinely credible suddenly appears online, the community reacts instantly. Especially with GTA 6.
At this point, almost any believable update becomes massive news within minutes.
The Affiliate Timing Is What Really Matters
Interestingly, the greatest detail here may not even be the pre-orders themselves. It’s the timing. Affiliate campaigns usually need:
- tracking systems
- marketing preparation
- creator links
- retail coordination
That means companies often prepare these campaigns before public announcements happen. So even if the dates shift slightly, the existence of the campaign itself could suggest that movement is finally happening behind the scenes.
That’s what has many fans paying attention now.
Fans Are Trying Not to Get Too Excited Yet
Even now, many players are still approaching the situation carefully. Partly because GTA 6 speculation has become so chaotic online that people no longer immediately believe every rumor.
But this leak feels stronger than most recent claims simply because it appears to be connected to a real corporate affiliate system rather than random social media speculation.
That alone makes it one of the most convincing GTA 6 leaks in quite a while.
