Once Human is about to receive one of its biggest updates yet, and honestly, a lot is happening at once.
The upcoming patch introduces:
- New weapons and armor
- A huge chef class overhaul
- Tech system improvements
- Territory updates
- A brand-new Visional Wheel season
- Cosmetic additions
- Quality-of-life fixes
And some of these changes are much bigger than they initially sound.
New Weapons and Armor in the Once Human Update
The first major addition is a new assault rifle called Electron Cloud.
This weapon focuses heavily on shock elemental damage and Power Surge mechanics. After reloading, the rifle can create magnetic fields that generate unpredictable electric orbs when enemies inside the area receive Power Surge effects.

The result looks surprisingly chaotic in combat, with electric projectiles bouncing around the battlefield and dealing shock damage repeatedly.
The second weapon, Burden of Betrayal, is a new bow built around bounce mechanics and stacking damage effects.
Instead of simply rewarding precision, the bow creates chain reactions between enemies. Bounce hits apply Echo stacks, and fully charged shots become significantly stronger depending on how many stacks enemies already have.
Interestingly, if there are no nearby enemies, the bounce effect can repeatedly hit the same target, giving the weapon stronger single-target potential as well.
New Armor Pieces Focus on Mobility and Status Builds
Two new armor pieces are also joining the game.
The first, Glide Pants, replaces the standard dodge roll with a slide mechanic. After sliding, players receive temporary boosts to reload speed and movement speed. Bow users also gain faster draw speed and automatic ammo loading after sliding.

The second piece, Magnetic Moment Top, is aimed more toward status-effect builds. Enemies affected by Power Surge can begin pulling nearby enemies toward them, creating grouped combat situations that work especially well with shock-focused setups.
Once Human’s Chef System Is Getting a Major Rework
This is honestly one of the biggest parts of the update.
Cooking in Once Human is no longer just a side activity. The system is being transformed into something much closer to an actual in-game profession.
Players can now:
- Receive cooking orders from other players
- Sell dishes with custom pricing
- Automate cooking systems
- Build chef popularity
- Upgrade cooking operations over time
Orders can be placed through campfire stoves or even discovered through world-map systems. Finished meals are delivered through in-game mail, while failed orders automatically refund players.
The update also introduces:
- Ordering terminals in settlements
- Chef progression systems
- Special unlockable rewards
- Expanded creative cooking freedom
Honestly, it sounds much more advanced than a typical MMO cooking feature now.
Creative Cooking Is Becoming Much More Flexible
Another major improvement is the removal of strict recipe limitations for creative cooking. Chefs can now experiment more freely with ingredients, and stronger dishes with enhanced effects can occasionally be created.
The Glutton trait is also being redesigned so players can benefit from multiple food and drink effects simultaneously. That change alone could significantly affect higher-level gameplay and character builds.
Once Human Gravity Abyss Update Release Date and Details
The next Visional Wheel season, Gravity Abyss, launches on May 27th. This season appears heavily focused on vertical gameplay and gravitational anomalies.
The main threat is a creature called the Rift Walker, which flies across the map, scattering mysterious artifacts throughout the world. Players can discover these artifacts for rewards, including Abyssal Cores with randomized loot outcomes.

Some cores may contain valuable rewards. Others may contain almost nothing. That randomness could make artifact hunting surprisingly addictive.
Eventually, players can also challenge the Rift Walker itself in multiplayer co-op battles on a massive high-altitude platform.
World Stones Are Getting a Huge Visual Upgrade
World Stones are also being redesigned visually and mechanically.
Instead of appearing as clean golden crystals, they now look far more organic and alien, connected through strange biometallic structures across dimensions.
Different World Stone states will now determine whether they function as:
- Teleportation points
- Respawn points
- Or both
The redesign honestly sounds much more immersive compared to the previous version.
The Tech System Is Becoming Less Restrictive
The update also removes several annoying progression limitations.
Players can now exchange tech points for tech enhancement points without scenario limits. Tech materials are also becoming more accessible through activities like:
- Securement silos
- Monoliths
- Elites
- Scenario challenges
Meanwhile, the portable fridge is finally returning to the tech tree with lower crafting requirements and multiple unlock methods.
Once Human Patch Improves Building and Territory Systems
Territory management is also receiving meaningful upgrades.
Players will now get:
- Livestock recall systems
- Customizable lighting colors
- Furniture disassembly
- Shared crafting access for hive members
Raid zone rules are changing, too.
Previously, leaving a scenario could automatically dismantle territory structures. Now, abandoned buildings remain in the wilderness instead of instantly disappearing.
That creates a much more persistent world feeling overall.
New Once Human Update Expands Custom Server Features
Custom server hosts are getting significantly more control after the update.
Server owners can now customize:
- Weapon stats
- Armor effects
- Item names
- Food effects
- Potion effects
- Loot systems
This opens the door for much more creative community-made gameplay experiences.
There will still be restrictions to protect server stability, but the customization options already sound surprisingly deep.
There Are Also Tons of Smaller Improvements
The update also includes:
- Improved makeup customization
- Better preview systems
- More photo mode actions
- Higher trading limits
- Expanded gardening systems
- Better vehicle effects
- Various bug fixes
Some older cosmetics are returning as well, alongside new skins, fashion sets, and crate rewards.
Meanwhile, Meta Pass rewards are also improving with free weekly Epic Stardust Secret Crates and expanded cosmetic bonuses for active users.
This Might Be Once Human’s Most Ambitious Update Yet
Honestly, this update feels much larger than a normal seasonal patch.
The amount of changes happening simultaneously across:
- combat
- professions
- progression
- world systems
- customization
- co-op gameplay
…makes this feel closer to a major expansion than a routine update.
And with Gravity Abyss launching later this month, Once Human is clearly trying to push the game into a much bigger long-term live-service experience moving forward.
